My job has me interacting with cars on a regular bases and not just cars, but their drivers. working in an environment where people lose all sense of being the second they pull into my lot. I support Tesla's advanced self parking feature.

1. People have lost the privilege to use the loading lane : Yes I understand your wife is in the store stuck in a mile long line. and you don't want to park ten feet away. My job is to maintain and help customers outside of the store, and that includes having to assist to various vehicles and situations. Since Tesla's adding a feature where all you have to do is push a button and the car comes to us therefore you can leave the car in the loading dock, hit the button and the car will fight for it's own spot, or drive around in circles because robot rules say they can't harm us. Might even put me out of a job

2. People have shown that they show no disregard for safety: Look kid, I know, you're mom's turbocharged Tiguan is certainly spry, but the many countless times you've sped into my lot and sped out disregarding everyone around you has to end. I wonder how fast the Tesla will go through the lot I'm a fan of 10 MPH maximum... I've almost been hit countless times by people rushing around corners.

I'm not complaining about my job actually, I love it. I've been with my job for three years now and compared to other Student jobs out there, I could have done worse, but my thing is I'm practically getting payed to play frogger.

If you do drive just take your time I've seen what happens when a brand new Q7 smacks into a college students Rio. Your safety is not worth a higher insurance premium, and in the end everybody wins. so pull in. just take your time and enjoy life.

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. -Isaac Asimov-

Ive worked a couple of summers as a valet parking attendant at the beach. It is great fun to work with cars, make some tips, enjoy the sun, and have an overall chill work environment. However, dealing with some of the people is definitely the crazy part. The people who leave immense amounts of trash in their car and/or rotting baby diapers in the car are literally hitler. In addition, the cars that barely run, exhaust leaks that could kill a baby for sure, cars with NO gas, and not leaving the keys in the car are other fun ones. But the people who will try to blame preexisting damage on you or beg for discounted parking for no reason are definitely the worst. Overall its totally worth it though when you are sitting in a $90k Mercedes with the AC blasting while watching some fireworks on a nice summer night. All of the chaos and crazy people is totally worth it in that moment!

For some reason this occupation doesn't exists in Finland. In some big sports events when thousands of cars are parked on a field (or something that usually isn't used as parking space) there will be people guiding the cars to form nice lines but they are usually only volunteers from some sports club.

Maybe our sports arenas have some guiding people too but the are just directing you people to parking levels that aren't yet empty. I'm not totally sure how the parking works in these because I'll try to stay very far away from those.

If you have to pay for the parking in city centers you pay with a machine. I think that the biggest underground parking garage in our capital had a booth where you could handle the paying with a human but I'm pretty sure that the booth is gone now. And in the main airport there is some common info desk where you can pay for the parking.

I don't think that even any of our hotels is offering valet parking. Maybe if you ask really nicely from the reception someone might park your car.
